The Guildford library staff would like to extend a warm welcome to all new LPC, GDL and LLB students and to all students returning for the second year of your course. Throughout the academic year we’ll be aiming to offer you the best possible support to assist you with your studies.
You’ll find us on the second floor of the Learning Resource Centre. The library contains collections of books, practitioner texts, newspapers, journals, law reports & legal research resources, as well as 24 PCs, a self-issue machine and a printer/photocopier. You’re welcome to bring in your laptops to use in the library.
In addition, the My Library page on ELITE enables you to access a wide range of online library resources, including links to the legal databases, the online library catalogue, and several resources to help you with your legal research.
The Information Officers who manage the library are Laura Sutton (Mondays, Tuesdays) and Helen Hinder (Wednesday to Friday, and alternate Saturdays & every Sunday in term-time.) If you have any queries about the library service, or if you need help with legal research, please come along to the library to see us, or E-mail us at Laura.Sutton@law.ac.uk or Helen.Hinder@law.ac.uk.
We’re supported by a team of Information Assistants – Claire Rymell and Janice Cruse both of whom will be pleased to help you with any library queries.
For basic information about the library – how to contact us, opening times, borrowing rights, renewing and reserving books etc – please click on the Opening Hours, About Us and FAQs links at the top of this homepage.
We’ll be posting on this blog regularly to pass on any library-related information we think will be of use to you – changes to opening hours, details about forthcoming library legal research workshops and external database training sessions, advice on accessing and using online resources, information about new books added to stock etc. So please keep checking it – that way you won’t miss out on any important library information!
We look forward to helping you, and hope that you enjoy your studies over the coming year.
