Introducing your new Student Rep for LexisLibrary
I’m Mary Dancer and I will be your Lexis Nexis student rep this year. I am sure many of you are familiar with what student reps do, but I thought I’d just give a brief overview of what you can expect from Lexis Nexis this year.
I’ll be holding twice-weekly sessions where you can pop in with any queries that you may have with any of the Lexis products and I’ll do my best to help you find a solution. Until the end of term, drop-in sessions will be held on Mondays and Thursdays in the Library 12-13:30 and I shall do my best to accommodate as many students as possible.
For those of you who are unable to attend my drop-in sessions please email me any queries and I shall provide online help and/or organise to meet you at your convenience.
The interactive Law Campus is a free online resource launched by LexisNexis which is designed to provide students with legal information, support and expertise. Law Campus hosts video tutorials, student reps weekly blogs and interactive video teaching resources. http://lexisweb.co.uk/law-campus/videos
There is instant online access to a member of the Lexis academic training team who you can contact with any Lexis-related research problems. http://lexisweb.co.uk/law-campus/ask-a-trainer
The ability to efficiently research areas of law is a skill that potential employers will expect you to possess. Why not demonstrate this to them in the form of a research certificate? It will also allow you to feel confident in finding all the cases, statutes, precedents or commentary you could ever need whilst studying the LPC here at Guildford.
Sessions will be hosted by one of the Academic Trainers from Lexis HQ, who will give you a comprehensive guide to the services available to you and all the information that you will need to pass the test.
These certification sessions are likely to take place in March 2012. Look out for my emails nearer the time.
Watch out for table days that I will be hosting as there will the opportunity to win some great prizes and ask me any questions about Lexis. I’ll be emailing you in the near future with details of the dates and time of these days.
If you have any queries about Lexis Library or want to organise a more formal meeting with me, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I shall get back to you as soon as possible.
I look forward to meeting you all,
